AIRMF3005 Error – Rejected Transmission in IRS Filing

Picture of adminadmin

If you receive the AIRMF3005 error when transmitting ACA forms to the IRS, it means:

The value of the Manifest TestFileCd does not match the value stored in the IRS database for the FormsTypeCd.

In simple terms, the IRS is rejecting your submission because your file is still marked as Test when it should be set to Production.

Why This Error Happens

  • Before moving to live filing, the IRS requires at least one successful communication test file.

  • Even after you switch the XML code to production (<p3:TestFileCd>P</p3:TestFileCd>), your TCC number may still be flagged as Test in the IRS system.

  • This mismatch triggers the AIRMF3005 rejection.

How to Fix the AIRMF3005 Error

  1. Submit a successful test file to the IRS if you haven’t already.

  2. Once accepted, call the IRS ACA Technical Help Desk at 866-937-4130 (x1, x3).

  3. Request that they move your TCC number from Test to Production.

  4. Re-submit your file in Production mode.

Example XML Code

Here’s the XML snippet that should be used for production submissions:

<p3:TestFileCd>P</p3:TestFileCd>

Make sure your file matches this format and that the IRS has switched your TCC to production.
