Need more time to paper or electronically file your information returns?
Payers/filers who need more time to file information returns with the IRS can request and will receive an automatic 30-day extension before the filing due date. You can request an extension of time to file any of the forms below:
W-2G,
1042-S,
1094-C, 1095,
1097-BTC, 1098, 1099,
3921, 3922,
5498, and
8027.
Time extension requests for Forms 1099-QA, 5498-QA, and W-2 must be submitted on paper.
Acknowledgements are automatically displayed online if the request is made by the due date of the return.
The automatic extension is 30 days from the original due date.
