Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The IRS e-Services portal is a secure web-based suite designed for tax professionals, enabling tools like TIN Matching and transmitter control code (TCC) applications. With 1099FIRE’s guidance you can register for an ID.me account, set up your e-Services profile and link it to your filing workflow so your software or outsourcing solution connects seamlessly.

First visit the official IRS e-Services site, click “Create Account” (or “TIN Matching”) and answer identity questions — name exactly as on your last U.S. tax return, date of birth, SSN/ITIN, last eight digits of a Visa/Mastercard/Discover card. You’ll receive an activation code via email or mail; once verified, you can log into e-Services and link to 1099FIRE capabilities (e.g., TCC application, TIN match)

Yes — through e-Services you apply for or maintain your TCC which identifies you as the transmitter of information returns. Using 1099FIRE’s software or outsourcing path, e-Services is where you submit your application and monitor TCC status. If you outsource the filing via 1099FIRE, you may not need your own TCC, but you still need a verified e-Services account for any required filings.

Owners often struggle with mismatched names (e.g., last-name change after marriage), inputting a phone number that fails ID.me validation or entering credit-card digits incorrectly. 1099FIRE’s support page provides screenshots and step-by-step instructions, so you avoid delays and get your e-Services access set up properly before filing deadlines.

Using e-Services gives you centralized access to TIN Matching, TCC management, and secure credentialing — all of which streamline your year-end compliance workflows with 1099FIRE. By integrating e-Services early, you can submit larger volumes, reduce rejection risk, and switch between software or outsourcing filing paths depending on your business needs.
