The 1096 is a summary of
information forms being sent to the IRS. IRS Form 1096 Annual Summary and
Transmittal of U.S. Information Returns is a sort of cover page to all other 1099
forms being filed.
What to Report?
You need one 1096 for each type of
information form you have issued. If, for example, you submit a 1099-MISC and a
1099-S, complete one Form 1096 to transmit with the 1099-MISC and another Form 1096
to transmit with Form 1099-S.
File Electronically...
If you are
filing electronically, the 1096 is automatically prepared and
transmitted. You do not need to submit the 1096 by paper if you
are filing electronically.
Our software
creates
files in the format required by the IRS for electronic
transmission. The system is updated each year to reflect the
format changes that are made by the IRS. 1099Fire™
is proud of its acceptance rate.
Saving Data...
Data entered
may be stored/saved anywhere on your hard drive or to external
diskettes for quick retrieval. You can also export your
data to a csv file format.
Import...
You have data
in Excel or some type of spreadsheet and you want to import that
data into the 1099Fire™ software, rather than type it in by
hand. Its easy to do.
