Official red-ink 1099 forms can be ordered directly from the IRS at no cost. Do not download and print Copy A from an IRS PDF. Although the downloaded form appears in red, it is provided for informational purposes and is not scannable.

You can order official 1099 forms through the IRS website. The IRS currently limits orders for most information returns to 10 copies of each form because businesses filing 10 or more returns in total are generally required to file electronically. Orders for available forms should normally arrive within approximately 15 business days.
