What if I forget my IRS FIRE password or PIN?

When you first log into the IRS FIRE system, you create a password and PIN (personal identification number). The password is something you create and must be 8 alpha/numerics, containing at least 1 uppercase, 1 lowercase and 1 numeric.

If you forget your password or PIN, you can call IRS/ECC-MTB toll-free at 1-866-455-7438 for assistance to creating a new password and/or PIN.

The FIRE system periodically requires users to change their password (usually once a year).

You have to re-apply. You have time. You efile by the end of March and it usually takes
2-weeks to get a TCC number.

The application for a TCC number is here

    https://www.1099fire.com/learning_center/fire/how_to_participate.htm

There is a fax number on that link as well. Put together a cover page with
your phone number, fax number, email, mailing address and so on and fax that
Form 4419 and cover page to the IRS. Fax instead of mailing! The IRS will
call or email or fax back the TCC number and eventually mail a TCC number
but mail is really slow. It might be a month or more before you receive
    anything in the mail.

If you get in a pinch by the end of March, vendors like ourselves can efile
on your behalf. We do charge for this service, but it is an
option. You have time though to get that TCC number.

    Call or email anytime.

What if you have tried the phone number for three days unsuccessfully to reach someone to reset your password. Is there an email that someone can try?

Its a common question. The solution is here

    https://www.1099fire.com/blog/i-have-a-tcc-number-but-cant-find-my-login-passcode-or-10-digit-pin/

If you cant get through by phone, go to fire.irs.gov and click on ‘Create a New Account’ and you will have the
opportunity to create a new login, passcode and PIN. If you do get through to the IRS, this is what they recommend.

I hope this helps. Call or email anytime.

The login name, passcode and PIN is something you set up on the IRS site.
To attain these numbers, go to fire.irs.gov and click on ‘Create a New Account’
and with the TCC number, you can set up all of this.

Let me know. Call or email anytime. My direct line is 608-444-6575.

You can set up as many accounts as you like. You have one TCC number and you can
track any and all files using that TCC number. If you forget your login name and
passcode (for whatever reason), create a new account. You can still work all files
submitted in prior and current year(s) that were filed using that one TCC number.

    You have options:

    1. On the fire site, click on Create New Account and reset the login name, passcode and
    pin.

    2. We can efile on your behalf. We do charge for the service but if you have your data ready
and call (480) 706-6474 they can setup a secure link for you where you can upload your data.
We can prepare a PDF for you to review and then file electronically on your behalf.
