Import W-2
This page shows the order of data used for importing data into SSA Form W-2 software.
Each column has to be read in
the correct sequence. The 1st column on your data identifies
whether this information return is Void. The 2nd column has a
value for Employee's SSN and so forth following in the order
below for the W-2:

Type of TIN is taken from the TIN itself. If the TIN contains one dash (-), then the TIN type
is an EIN. If the TIN contains two dashes, then the TIN type is a SSN. Otherwise the TIN is
identified as unknown.
