Import 1098 Data

This page shows the order of data used for importing data into IRS Form 1098 software.

Each column has to be read in the correct sequence. The 1st column on your data identifies whether this information return is Void. The 2nd column has a value for Corrected and so forth following in the order below for the 1098:

Type of TIN is taken from the TIN itself. If the TIN contains one dash (-), then the TIN type is an EIN. If the TIN contains two dashes, then the TIN type is a SSN. Otherwise the TIN is identified as unknown.
