This arises with 'Photo-Quality' printers.  They are designed to produce high quality output.  The solution is to reduce the print quality which will in turn speed up the printing process.  When you are just printing text, you don't need a photo-quality document.  You can change the setting to 'Fast-Draft' or 'Normal' and produce an excellent, laser-quality document within seconds!
