These instructions
show you how to upload a file to the IRS system.
1. Your now
ready to upload your file to the FIRE system.
a. At Menu Options to the left:
- Click on "Send information returns" and you get to a
screen that looks like the following:

Enter your TCC and
your TIN number and click Submit.
The system will then display the company name, address, city, state,
ZIP code, telephone number, contact and e-mail address. This
information will be used to e-mail the status of your transmission.
Update as appropriate and/or click "Accept".
Then you get the
following screen:

b. Click one of the following:
Test File
Original File
Replacement File
Correction File
As an example,
let's say you click on Test File. You see the following
screen:
Click on Browse,
then find the ascii text file on your computer and click Open.
By default, the 1099Fire software wants to put the files for
electronic filing in the folder:
C:\Fire\New_Client
Find that file,
usually named, fire.txt and upload that.
c. When the upload is complete, the screen will display the total
bytes received and tell you the name of the file you just uploaded.
d. If you have more files to upload for that TCC:
- Click "File Another?", otherwise
- Click Main Menu.
You can now
Check Your
File Status.
