The fire.txt file
is in ASCII format, which can be opened in notepad. This is
the file format that the IRS seeks when uploading your data.
You can create
fire.txt file by click on the FIRE button in the upper right hand
corner of your screen. Looks like this:

When you click that FIRE button, a box
pops up which looks like the following:

Fill this out completely!
At the bottom, you see where the
fire.txt file is being created. You can change the name and
location by clicking on the yellow folder.
Then hit Create to generate the
fire.txt file. Click on the Review button and the software
will double-check your basic file structure and look for common
errors and display those potential errors on the screen.
Please correct any potential errors before submitting to the IRS
FIRE System.
When you are finished, upload the fire.txt file to the IRS.
