With all the new 1099 laws that will be taking place in 2011 I really can't imagine that the government is going to get small business to comply. Thanks for this post, I look forward to seeing more on 1099 issues. We welcome you to visit out b2b blog and have placed a link to this article. http://www.buildersnotebook.com/blog

I really enjoy what you post here, very fresh and smart. One issue though, I'm running Firefox in Ubuntu and parts of the site structure are a little off. I know it really is not necessarily the popular method, yet it is always a thing to keep an eye on. Hope that helps and keep up the high quality posting.

Yes, the deadline for electronic filing is the end of March.

Furnish Copy B of to the recipient by the end of January.
If you are filing by paper, file the red-ink Copy A with the IRS by the end of February. If you file electronically, you must file by the end of March.

If you need more time, check out this link:

http://www.1099fire.com/support/time_extension.htm

which will show you have to file electronically until the end of April.

The above article discusses foreign nationals (employees, students etc.). How about foreign business and organization that have assests in US financial institutions? Would an organization in Switzerland who has a certificate of deposit of large sum at a U.S. bank will need to be given 1042s for their interest income by the US based bank?. Switzerland has a tax treaty with the US.
